I saw a commercial on TV the other day of a famous ex-basketball player. He was encouraging people to apply for a franchise of one of the most famous local gas stations. According to the advertisement, initial capital is small since it would be like a “junior” version of the petrol company’s flagship gas station.

That got me thinking. Will it be a good idea to invest on my own gas station? It seems like a lucrative business but considering the instability of fuel prices, it seems very risky as well. Not to mention the fact that there might still be a need to invest on commercial pumps in case the franchise fee includes only a limited number of pumps.

I know some people who own franchises of gas stations and they seem to be doing quite well. I guess I should confer with them and ask them if owning a gas station in spite of the volatility of the oil market.

Permits, Renewals and More

The New Year has come and that means it’s a new year to file all government required taxes, renewal of business permits, registration of vehicles and so many more. This also means you need to get all the necessary clearances, permits, and even a cheap auto insurance policy for your vehicle just to do it on time and avoid penalties.

When I was still working as a branch sales head, I was happy that I was not able to do this. There was someone in our branch that was assigned to do this yearly when it comes to business permit renewals. As for our vehicle, the driver was assigned to renew the vehicles permit. All I was tasked to do was to increase the sales of our branch.

Anyway, speaking about taxes, I admire the government’s initiative of having personnel from the Bureau of Internal Revenue (BIR) setup tables at SM Malls to make it easier for business owners renew their permits. If you compare, going to their office is quite stressful considering there would be many people flocking there to renew. If they do it in the malls, they will not feel stress easily because of the air conditioning unit that provides ventilation to all. Good thing, right?!

As I posted yesterday, many companies can successfully sell a product or a service because of technological advance way of marketing. Well you can’t actually blame them for doing that since most consumers like to be presented in a way that they find it very appealing.

If you have the right budget and the guts to enter the international market, I believe that investing into some good marketing tools and strategies is the way to go for it. Most of the time a consumer trust companies who are also willing to invest more in the proper presentation of their products and services. It gives them the idea that the company might have the proper funding in developing their product or service to the utmost quality.

One of the good ways to have your product or service is doing a corporate film production. This can be a short movie that features the benefits of your product or service. This way, a consumer will not feel tired reading series of texts but only watch the movie and listen to the presentation which is of course preferred by most people nowadays. Consumers don’t want to spend time reading since they have many things to do.

So, if you’re planning to market big time, try presenting your products by using new and advance ways of marketing it! Like movies!
