As if I am emphasizing that I am doing a post about my life, but don’t get me wrong, I am not. I am doing a post (literally) on RUBY the precious gem stone. LOL!!!

Yes, it is true. My name is Ruby and I was named after the birthstone for the month of July. And another YES, I was born on July. Hehehe… As I said earlier, I am not making a history of myself but I just want to share what I have been reading about the history of my birthstone and how precious I am…errr…how precious the ruby stone is. Anyway, ruby can be traced back in history as far as the Bible and ancient Sanskrit writings. Its name was derived from the word rebrum which is a Latin word for red. Since ruby is a really fascinating gem stone, it has also has fascinating history on how it’s regarded as a real beauty. Around the 1300s, the king of Luxembourg Charles IV has a crown that contained a 250 carats ruby! Aside from that, rubies are worn by warriors because it has been known that it has protective qualities. They also believed that rubies have healing properties that can help treat health matters with regards to blood and heart which in turn made rubies often associated with passion, romance and power!!

Ruby gem stones are not being sought in size but in quality which is usually related to its color and cut. Most quality rubies are bought in Burma for they are known to produce the clearest, finest and fiery deep red rubies. That I mean are organic rubies. It means they produce nature born rubies since lab grown rubies are now available at a fraction of the cost.

By the way, ruby has been chosen as the July birth stone since it is highly regarded as the king of the gems which perfectly match the zodiac sign Leo – king of the zodiac (and jungle)!
